I am already in my 30’s, but I must admit, I still don’t know how to drive. Back in my home country, though we had a car, driving is something that is not a necessity since we have wonderful public modes of mass transit. I could go wherever I wanted without the need for car. Not to mention, I didn’t have the courage to learn while I was there.
But when I got here in the land of Uncle Sam, I know I should learn how to drive or I will get nowhere. They do have buses, but the bus stop is already far from where we live so I have no choice other than to suck it up and gather my guts and start to learn about driving.
I have already started to read the state’s Driver’s Handbook in preparation for the learner’s permit examination that I will be taking soon. I am so into it that although I am nervous, I am also excited. Excited to drive and of course, excited to shop for my first car ever. Who wouldn’t be?
And though I know having a car equals more expenses like maintenance, gas, and insurance, I am ready to face them all. The husband and I are already looking into auto insurance quotes so we will know which policy will best fit our budget. We still have time to decide on that matter, but for certain, we will soon be making decisions. For now, I am still studying the ways of the highways, but pretty soon, I will be flying on them.
