Got The Rug Bug In Your Head?

Like most women, beautifying our home is one thing that interests me. I like rearranging the furniture from time to time to give our home a new feel. I need not buy new stuff to provide a new look or atmosphere to the household. Just a little rearranging does the trick, and the feeling of having a new look is totally refreshing.

But there’s one thing in the house that stays put and that’s the rugs. We have two wide rugs, one in the living room and one in the dining area which is much bigger than what we have in the living room. I can’t exchange them because the one in the living room is too small to cover the area under our six-seat dining table. But I haven’t had problems with that because those rugs fit their particular surroundings. The one in the dining area is the focal point of the house and it’s the first thing that catches people’s attention whenever they come through the door.

Rugs certainly help beautify homes. And there's a wide and varied selection of rugs to choose from on the market today, though not all are of high quality like those from The Natural Rug Company. They are known for offering any kind of rug that you could think of. In addition, they also provide customers the chance to custom design their rugs online using their rug builder tool. You can choose the material yourself, the size you need, the color/colors, and the borders and weaves that suits your taste best. What a fantastic and interesting idea! For people who fancy rugs, and especially those who pay attention to detail, this is the go-to place.

Lunch at the Ranch

The place is called Ranchero to be exact and they are popular not just for their ranch style setting and waiters and waitresses in cowboy attires, but most especially for their baby back ribs. But my BA is not into baby back ribs and so am I so we ordered these instead and you'll never go wrong with their dishes 'cause they are all yummy.

We had these on the 29th of August, Saturday for our lunch. We went to hear mass before that but we weren't able to finish it because my son Yogi was already complaining of stomach pains. He's hungry but all he ate were french fries and a little of the fried rice plus a glass of mango shake. He can be picky.

I've always preferred fried rice over plain. My BA isn't much of a rice eater but gladly that day, he ate a bit much. That's a big serving of fried rice there, good for two to three persons and I can't eat it all, definitely. Har.

Seafood Kare Kare. This is mixed seafoods with peanut butter. Sounds yummy eh but I didn't taste it. BA had it all. Well, it's not that he didn't want to share. I was just drooling over my order and concentrated on it the whole time. Hee hee.

And this is mine. My favorite Binagoongang Baboy. This is sauteed pork with shrimp paste. It's not just yummy but smells so good too. Now, I'm drooling again.

Yogi's french fries. He's favorite ever!

Sounds that Speak to the Soul

One of the many things that never fail to fascinate me are creatively made handicrafts. They are really unique and it leaves me wondering how easy it is for someone to have created such beautiful works. It takes much time, effort and patience, but the people who are responsible for creating such items must have been born with a special gift that they've chosen to share with the world.

One such item is those instruments used for meditation and relaxation. They were made in such a way that they aren’t just done creatively for their aesthetics but with underlying reasons of metaphysics that are really amazing. Like the gong, for example. It is made beautifully, and the sound it produces gives a big help in relaxation. Another one are those Crystal Singing Bowls which produce a haunting sound that helps not just in meditation but also in healing. Simply amazing, isn’t it? These items can be found at SilverSkyImports.com - a place known for providing quality made and affordable instruments used for meditation, relaxation and healing.

I know I’m not the only one who finds these instruments fascinating. My friend Leo mentioned his interest in these instruments as well. He has a deep love of music, and he's spoken much of his ancient, Irish ancestors who were deeply influenced by music and the mystical side of the universe. He seldom finds such instruments in his part of the world but he has seen them and was introduced to their importance when he was in Asia and he has never forgotten the experience. How about you? Are you amazed by those instruments too?

Embarrassing Body Issues

Any kind of tips interest me so it's what I always look out for whenever I flip through magazines. And here's the latest that I've found on Cosmo. Read on...

Here's how to fix things fast when...

You're gassy. Pop an over-the-counter antigas pill containing simethicone to get rid of the problem ASAP. Or, go somewhere private and do sit-ups, which can force excess gas out of your body. Quiet your digestive tract in the future by avoiding gum, soda, and hard candy, which make you body produce gas.

A cold sore strikes. Make it less irritating and cut short its duration by applying SPF 15 lip balm to the sore to keep sunlight from exacerbating it. Then, put on lysine cream (in health-food stores) or a prescription anti-viral cream every two hours to make it go away faster.

You get a hangnail. Clip the hangnail as close to your skin as possible with the cleanest, smallest scissors you can find. Dab on an antibacterial ointment to prevent infection. Hangnails result from dry, dead skin, so stave off repeat offenders by moisturizing nail beds with lotion daily and cuticle oil once a week.

Decisions; Decisions; Which Way Do I Go?

It was last week when I was finally able to renew my domain registration for my two blogs courtesy of my BA. I was having problems with my credit card and being the thoughtful person that he always is, he took care of it for me and I can’t thank him enough. Now I only have one issue to solve and that’s renewing my web host. I’m still contemplating whether to renew it or try another web hosting company. I haven’t had problems with my current web host but with my financial status at present, I need to choose one that will fit my budget. I know there’s a lot of web hosts out there who can offer me the service that I need, and possibly at a lower rate. I just have to do the research so I can make an informed decision.

A friend told me about gobbler hosting - a site that presents reviews of web hosts plus the different kinds of plans that they offer with detailed information about their services and their individual ratings. That will certainly make it so much easier for me if I choose to make a change. I’ve already checked the site but still have to browse some more. But so far, I’ve already seen one that was of great interest to me because their offer definitely suits my needs. You never know, though; I might find something even better so I'm going to go browse some more.

It's Tuna Time

Our city being the Tuna Capital of the Philippines, I did see to it that my BA will have his fair share of Tuna. So on the sixth day, I brought him at Tuna Grill. By the name itself, you can already tell that they specialize in Tuna. It's my first time to visit the place again after its renovation and to be honest, I don't like the ambiance. The color of the walls are dark which made the place look smaller and not comfy at all. You would also hear your echo whenever you talk which prompted me to just shut up. Har. In fairness, the food was good.

Both of us like fried rice.

Tuna Belly with Seaweed Salad. Super yummy!

Lomi. I'm not so into this but BA like this a lot.

Every Picture Tells A Story

Nothing can be more amusing than looking at our pictures during our younger years; when we were still babies cuddled by our moms and dads; during our toddler years where we were starting to show some antics; and during our teen years where we are starting to be self conscious, dealing with all the angst and our search for self-identity. What made me think of this? Well, my Big Angel has been sharing some of his early photos with me. Photos taken when he was still a baby, then a toddler, then a first grader and when he was in the 12th grade, which reminds me of those days when I was that age. Looking back, I can’t help but be amused.

He’s so cute as a toddler and absolutely stunning during his teens. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a stunner like him. Just like a normal teenager, I went through the acne stage and had to use acne skin treatment but fortunately, unlike other teens, it didn’t affect my self-esteem. I was positive about the whole thing and my being optimistic paid off. The acne treatment worked well for me and my acne was gone after a few months. I can still remember those times when the people who know me well were surprised to see the improvement and asked how I did it. Being the honest person that I always am, I told them what I did and how happy I was with the results.

But back to the photos, I’m still looking at my Big Angel’s pictures over and over again and with a smile on my face, at that. I really can’t help it. He’s really adorable and he melts my heart. Cheesy! LOL.

To A Coffee Shop This Time

We were freezing cold after watching the movie G.I. Joe which was my BA and I's first movie date. I was thinking of a warm place afterward where we could hang out and talk, and BA thought of a coffee shop. So we headed to Fagioli, the nearest from the mall where we watched the movie.

I was freezing cold but I still ordered cold coffee. Hee hee. I wasn't into hot coffee that time. BA ordered a hot cup of black coffee though. I was a little hungry too so I ordered a piece of their chocolate moist which BA and I shared. Yum! Yum!

Life is Sweet; Enjoy the Moment

Almost three weeks has passed since the day we visited my Cousin Marc’s farm, but the adventure we had that day is still very vivid to me which explains why I like talking about it a lot. The trip took about an hour to finally reach the peak of the hill where the farm is located, and at that, that hill is dwarfed by the towering volcano it sits at the base of. What a magnificent sight! But that short span of travel time was more than enough for us to talk about anything. Anything goes, that day, so to speak.

Among the many topics, it was the talk about cancer that made everyone serious and attentive. It was my cousin Marc who brought up the topic because one of his buddies acquired Mesothelioma cancer and would be needing the help of one of those Mesothelioma doctors soon. Listening to my cousin’s story made me empathize with his friend. Cancer is a killer disease and when you hear of an individual who gets it, you felt like it’s already the end of the world for that person. Yes, we do know that some cancers are treatable once it’s diagnosed at an early stage but, then again, more often than not, it’s already too late for the treatment. Oh well, that was the only sad story throughout the trip. Everything else was fun, fun, fun! But such thoughts and conversation makes one realize how precious life is.

And there are more stories to tell about that day, but they’ll wait ‘til next time. I don’t want to end up writing a novel here. LOL.

Fresh Fruits?

In the menu it says, mixed fresh fruits with milk and cheese. Sounds yummy eh? And here's what I got. Mixed fruits indeed but not at all fresh but canned. Duh! How could they offer something like this? Who would want canned fruits for dessert? Ewww! And mind you, this was in a hotel - the second hotel where my BA stayed. He had to stay in that "oh well" hotel for three days to give way to the participants of the Tuna Congress that time. He went back to the first hotel after three days though and boy, how my BA was glad after that. The second hotel sucks!

Smile With Satisfaction, and Confidence...(",)

If there’s one thing that I’ll prioritize to get fixed once my finances will allow me, it would definitely be my teeth. Even though I consider myself lucky for not having false teeth, just the same, I do envy those individuals who were born with a nice set of teeth just like my cousin Renzo. His teeth are really nice, and many have thought he may have had them implanted.

My dentist told me that my teeth can be fixed with the use of braces but I think I would rather consider implants like the implant dentist Plano is known for since it’s nicer looking, not to mention how highly recommended it is by many satisfied smiles.

Even my sister has the same sentiment as me. Unlike me though, she’s been wearing false teeth since high school. And though she’s had them changed a few times to suit her needs, still, it isn’t something that satisfies her. I wonder when the two of us will have this idea of having a perfect set of teeth materialize. Soon, I hope.

Goin' Chinese

I brought my BA to a Chinese Restaurant on the fourth day. It's considered a Chinese Restaurant but basically, their specialty are crabs which explains why their name is Grab A Crab. We didn't order crabs though. It would have been nice but my BA wasn't into it that time. So here's what we got instead. You might think that we've eaten this all. Well, BA wasn't aware that every order is good for two to three persons so he was surprised when the food was served. I would have brought the leftovers but we're headed to the hotel afterward and bringing food is not allowed. So, what we did was asked the waitress to give our leftovers to the street children outside the resto and that's it.

Let's Drink To That

But no, we didn't drink these. The bottles of wine only served as decorations at the Chinese Restaurant that my BA and I had lunch on his fourth day of vacation here. That's a bottle of red wine there and a bottle of white wine too. I totally forgot the names but maybe you can read it from the picture. Is it visible enough? If not, then forget it. LOL.

I'm not a wine drinker but I do get my share of red wine occasionally. That is, during parties or family gatherings. Mom loves red wine and she sees to it that we have a bottle of it during parties here at home. Cheers!

Rub-a-Dub Dub With A Walk-In Tub

It’s been raining here since last night which has made me so glad. The surroundings are so cool now and I like it better this way than the usual humid weather that we have. The previous weeks have been very hot, reaching to almost 100 degrees in temperature. It’s so hot that one would almost have to have a shower every hour to feel fresh. I myself have wished for one of those walk in tubs where I can enjoy a bubble bath and perhaps stay there the whole day and not feel the heat at all. That would be really great, but having one remains on my wish list for now. I’ll get there soon, I hope.

Anyway, it’s already 7:00 o’clock and it looks like it’ll rain all day today. I really hope so because I definitely like it better this way. So, rain, rain, please don’t go away, stay around and cool my day… (“,)

Delish Dishes to Celebrate our Special Day

On the 25th of every month is a special day for my BA and I. And in August, the day was even made more special because we were able to celebrate it together, face to face, heart to heart. We never thought of anything super romantic since the feeling of being together on our special day is already overwhelming. But the food we had that day were simply superb. We had lunch at Orange Bistro, a restaurant famous for different cuisines and here's what we got.

Hungarian Sausage for me. It's spicy but not too hot. Just what I like. And the mashed potato on top of it is just so yummy. I'm drooling again now. Whew!

My BA had Grilled Porkchops with Mashed Potatoes. We both love Mashed Potatoes. I had a bite of his Porkchops and it's delish. The meat is really tender. How I wish I can have a bite of it right now! LOL.

A Dog’s Life, With No Strife

This is Happy, my Cousin Leah’s beloved dog. They treat her like their own kid – making it a point to provide her needs and let her come along with them wherever they go. So when we went to visit my Cousin Marc’s farm (Leah’s younger brother), Happy was with them as expected. She is such a well-trained dog. They used to have dog ramps for her to use but got rid of them eventually because Happy would choose to just jump out the back of the pick-up truck rather than use the dog ramp.

I was amazed to see her just sitting still at the back of the pick-up truck during the entire trip to the farm which is situated on top of a hill. I was a little worried that she’d just jump out of it but my cousin told me that she wouldn’t. She’s an amazing dog and her name does suit her because she’s not only a happy dog but she makes everyone around her happy too.

We had a little celebration at the beach this morning with the whole family and shared simple dishes like what we often do during birthdays. She's our last celebrant for this month and basically the last celebrant for the year.

When Food is Fun, Belly Gets Big

I’ve always been a homebody and I would prefer to stay at home most of the time unless I have important things to settle outside or I have an invitation from friends. But when my Big Angel arrived, my routine totally changed. I was out of the house every single day for sixteen days. I had to show him the city, and part of that was having lunch together every day. It was really an adventure and to add more excitement to it, I took him to a different restaurant everyday which gave us the opportunity and pleasure of checking out almost every restaurant in the neighborhood, even those I had never been to before.

Sampling different menus and cuisine was really fun, even though it did make me gain weight in that short span of time. I was actually a little worried ‘cause I could see my belly starting to bulge which made me figure I would need some serious exercise for which I will be needing some serious fitness equipment. Yes, I was worried but, still, it didn’t stop me from eating what I wanted to eat. But getting to satisfy my cravings and palate doesn’t happen everyday so I made the most of it

And now that my Big Angel is back home, I am back to the real world myself. Back to the same daily dishes I know so well; back to my own cooking, that is. Oh well, the adventure is over; for now.

Fresh Seafood

Mom asked me to buy prawns that day because my BA so love it that mom wanted him to taste freshly cooked prawns at home. So off we went to the supermarket and BA was so amazed of the fresh seafood he saw thus explains why he took these pictures here. Watching him taking pictures of the seafood with fascination really amused me. But he forgot to take pictures of the prawns. Maybe because i was there busy picking up prawns for the salesgirl to weigh and he doesn't want to disturb me. Hehe.

To be honest, i'm don't know the names of these fishes here but i've tasted them and they taste good.

He also took pictures of some cooking oils packed in cellophanes and the vegetables section as well.

A Dream Day Captured Forever

A wedding is one of the most-awaited events in every couple’s life. And considering that it only happens once in a lifetime makes it the most celebrated, not to mention it’s an event that needs much detailed work and scrutiny. No one wants their wedding to be a disaster. Every detail should be given proper attention so everything will turn out the way every couple dreams of.

Being a special event, every moment should be captured so memory will be retained all throughout the years. Aside from taking photos, one thing that is definitely a must-have is to capture those special moments on a wedding video. Nowadays, wedding videos are becoming more artistic and creative, not to mention a little melodramatic at times. But most couples prefer it that way since it feels more realistic and definitely unique. But you can’t just entrust those great moments to any wedding videographer. There are several of them now who offer wedding videography but you have the need to choose the right one to whom you can entrust your special day to.

In the Philippines, Buddy Gancenia is among the finest when it comes to wedding videography. His unique way of creating a reality-style wedding video has made him one of the most sought after in his field. He has already made several couples happy with their wedding videos, and if you make use of his services, then you’d be the next happily-married happy customers.

A Day in Paradise

My Big Angel was able to meet almost all of my relatives during his 16 day vacation here in my country, especially my relatives from my mom’s side. And being the gregarious person that he is, he got along with my cousins very well, most especially Marc whom he met on my birthday. They really had a good time singing on the karaoke and shared some very deep intellectual conversation. Marc then invited us to visit his farm located at a town which is about an hour’s drive from my city. I hadn’t ever seen his farm before and this was the first time I’d actually heard about it.

We went there Sunday, Sept 6th and we were all in awe of how great the place is. It is situated on top of a hill, and from a short distance you could see the huge volcano his farm is nestled at the base of. The weather was so cool and you could see fog everywhere, which being as high up as we were, it was actually clouds, not fog. I’ve included a photo here so you’ll get an idea of the picture I’m trying to paint with my simple, inadequate words. It’s an awesome sight, isn’t it?

My cousin purchased the farm recently, and though the place is already beautiful as it is, he still has lots of things in mind on how to make it his dream place. He’s planning on having a ranch and purchasing a couple of horses in due time, and for sure he’ll be needing horse supplies.

We stayed there the whole day. I was already getting cold around mid-afternoon because I was only wearing shorts. I wasn’t aware how cool it was there. I did have my jacket, though, and it did warm me a bit. But did I tell you that just going there, climbing up the hill using my cousin’s 4x4 pick-up truck was already an adventure? Yes it was but I will tell you more about that amazing odyssey soon.

Lock-&-Load, Rock-&-Roll and Rumble!

The invitational airsoft tournament given by my brother and his teammates was a blast. I enjoyed watching every game and so did my fiancé and son. We got there as early as we could so we would be able to see the first fight. Seeing those airsofters fire their guns on their nemesis and hiding for cover is really exciting. And they look really good in their gear.

I know that that fancy gear can cost a lot. Based on my bro’s expenses, I know it can really get into high-dollar territory. A True Wonder Drug, and NotJust A Recreational One

I must admit, whenever I hear the word marijuana, what instantly comes to my mind is the plant that is widely known to be a prohibited drug. Little did I know that the plant which has been called grass can be a useful medicine. It’s known to help reduce the symptoms of many conditions, such as glaucoma, emphysema, asthma, depression, as well as the reduction of tumors and pain, and many other helpful applications. Medical Marijuana is being used by many now in a practical way, as it has been for centuries in the ancient ways of oriental medicine.

I was really surprised when I found out about it earlier. No one told me about it, I just came across the site MedicalMarijuanaGroup.com and was enlightened of how useful it can be. I still have to browse the site more and find out what other benefits Medical Marijuana has. Check it out yourself, especially it you‘re in need of some alternative way of dealing with health issues.

Know the Host that Best Fits Your Needs

As a blogger or a website owner, be it personal or business, you need to know a lot of things about how to run a website the proper way. You need not be a techie to do such. But being resourceful and knowing the details needed to present the ideal website is a good first step. One thing that is important to learn is web hosting because it is one essential tool for the website. It helps having your site visible to the public worldwide; more so, having your ideas and/or products and services seen and read about and known by the people you want to reach.

But as website owners grow to a larger number by the day, the same goes for companies who offer web hosting services. The demand for such is rising and so people are also making ways to meet the supply needed. Web hosting companies are now multiplying but the difficulty of choosing the right one that would suit your needs is not as difficult as it may seem since web hosting companies are now rated based on their affordability, reliability and tech support like what WebHostingChoice.com is known for. Choosing your web host is definitely made much easier and hassle free.

A Fixer-Upper

I awoke feeling so sluggish today. The sun wasn’t up and it was gloomy, looking like it was going to rain again. As I got out of the bedroom, I heard my dad and my brother talking about our truck again. It was used when we bought it a couple of months ago but just only a month after that it started to have problems. Just fixing it and putting new truck accessories in it already cost dad quite a fortune and now here we’re having even more problems. I wonder when it’s going to end?

Dad was thinking of selling it and buying another one. He did have regrets of purchasing it and wished he had bought a brand-new one instead. The truck looked good when we bought it but I think the cliché “don’t be deceived by looks” perfectly fits. Well, at least, dad has learned his lesson; I hope….. Hehe.

His Cup of Coffee

And he can't last a day without having one. I was referring to my BA. He would even have two to three cups in a row. That's how a drinker he is. But that's no problem with me. At least he's not into alcohol and as they say, coffee is good for our health because of its antioxidants.

He always prefer his coffee black with milk and more often than not, no sugar. I tried tasting it once and ewww...it's so bitter. I am a coffee drinker too and it's what i always have when i get up in the morning before having my breaky. But I've always preferred the instant coffee because it's sweet.

Fantastic Faucets

This is the hotel where my BA stayed for his sixteen day vacation here in our city. It is the best hotel we have here and that’s why it is the place I chose for him to stay. So far, he’s enjoying his stay there and loving all the staff and crew in there too. But his first day was not that kind of good at all because their hot water in the bathroom didn’t work for him.

Well, that’s what he thought until one of the staff checked the Grohe faucets they’ve got. My BA was just unaware of how the faucet works. It’s new to him and he had a hard time at first figuring out how it works, but after then, he enjoyed every minute of his bath time, with a warm bath at that.

Small and Cute, But Efficient

My BA and I were having our lunch at the hotel’s lounge yesterday when we noticed this group of young professionals busy tinkering on their netbooks. What caught our attention was the mini laptop one of the women was using. It’s so small, just about five inches in height, if I’m not mistaken, and four inches in width. It is such a cute little thing, very handy for sure, and very light as well.

My BA was wondering at first what it was and I told him it’s a mini laptop or netbook. He was like, “Oh really?” It kind of looks like a toy from afar you know, and that’s probably what BA thought at first. Amusing, huh?

One of the many things that amaze me whenever we eat out is the kind of preparations the chefs or cooks does with the food they serve. The two pictures below were an example. We ordered sauteed prawns that time and these were the decorations they put on the side.

Carrot made into a flower...

...and a Cucumber made into a flower too. I'm not sure what kind of flower is this though.

Don’t Be a Fool; Keep Your Cool!

Our country has a tropical climate and it’s almost summer throughout the entire year. We do have our rainy season which runs from June to August but even then, it doesn’t rain everyday. That is why ceiling fans are one of the many things that is a must-have in almost every household here. It is the first thing that you would actually notice hanging on the ceiling whenever you visit houses in our country. It definitely makes a hot and humid day a little cooler and, of course, comfy.

Ceiling fans can be bought in different styles, designs, colors, finishes, models and sizes. I still can remember those days when you could only see one style and design which was made of metal. But as years go by, everything just gets better and prettier and ceiling fans are no exception, just like the Minka Aire Concept II that you can find at LightingSale.com. The elegantly styled ceiling fan is considered their most popular and saleable ceiling fan because of its quality and unique characteristics. Just like any other ceiling fan, it is available in different finishes that would suit your taste best. You might as well check it yourself to find out.

Marcellin's Christening Cake

I did blog about being a Godmother to my latest Godson, Marcellin, my best buddy Nimfa's first child. And here's his cake. Decorated with two bears on top and has a butter flavor. I haven't eaten much cake though because I was already full with their delish main course. But the thing is, i've tasted it and it's really yummylicious!

Spend Smart and Look Smart

If people would ask me what my favorite high fashion eyeglasses are, without a doubt I would say it’s the ones from Zenni Optical. Why? Because their great selection of $ 8 Rx eyeglasses are not just low cost but they are a high quality piece of work as well. Isn’t that a good way how you can start spending smart?
