Stretching Your Wallet

How many times have you opened your wallet to buy a pack of chips without even thinking about the calories you will put on? That's known as "unconscious eating". It lets you put on extra pounds, and it is not related to true hunger. Are you guilty of "unconscious" eating? Many times, we put food into our mouth without even thinking about it. People today never allow themselves to experience real hunger because they routinely eat before the body becomes hungry.

So, here's a Wellness tip that also saves you some money! Listen to your body's hunger signals to decide when to eat and when to stop eating. When you aren't sure whether what you are feeling is true hunger or not, try drinking a glass of water first. Oftentimes, your body is just thirsty. Once you learn to listen to your body and respond only to true hunger signals, you will lose weight a lot easier. Just think of all the money you save when you just have a glass of water - instead of mindlessly reaching for some chips, a slice of pizza, cookies, and junk foods.

I must admit I'm guilty of this! I definitely need to start eating healthy. Sometimes it's a conscious effort and I try to eat the bag of chips that has less calories and fat in it, for example. But other times, I just eat whatever I want and I don't really think about fats and cholesterol, and calories, and everything else. I will keep your tip in mind though, about learning to listen to my body and distinguishing when I'm actually hungry and not. Thanks!
