During these months, you will see your baby develop into a real personality. He'll become someone who is able to reward you with enchanting smiles and giggles. Although there are toys for this age, he needs and loves people most of all.When he is awake, take the time to talk, smile and respond to his facial expressions. Stimulate him with things to look at, sounds to hear and textures to explore.
1st Month
- Baby's head needs support
- Baby eats and sleeps most of the time
- Baby can hear well
- Frequently hiccups, sneezes and fists are clenched
2nd Month
- Cries when hungry, wet or uncomfortable
- Lifts head when lying on stomach
- Recognizes your voice
3rd Month
- Baby appreciates bright colors, toys and moving objects
- Turns side to side and can hold head up
- Coos, smiles, giggles, and holds rattle in hands
4th Month

6th to 8th Month
- Explores surroundings with eyes
- Begins to recognize people
- Reaches out to familiar people
- Expresses satisfaction and discomfort
- Strong mother attachment
- Can sit briefly with support
- Supports weight on legs
- Grasps objects
- Picks up objects
- Make repetitive consonant sounds like "ba-ba", "ma-ma", "da-da"
9th to 12th Month
- Can understand and follow simple instructions
- Knows that an object still exists when covered
- Smiles and pats mirror image
- Frightened of unfamiliar people
- Imitates actions
- Looks for attention
- Pulls himself up to stand
- Can stand without help
- Walks with a bit of help
- Starts to use a few words
