Feast Your Eyes On

This is what we had for Christmas Eve or Noche Buena. The roasted pig (Lechon) looks yummy, huh? It is indeed yummy! We also had Baked Mac in lieu of Lasagna. The resto ran out of Lasagna noodles so they gave us Baked Mac instead. We also had Diced Vegies, Beef Kaldereta and Chicken Lollipop. I forgot to put the Chocolate Cake and Kakanin which include Cassava Cake, Rice Cake (suman) and Ube Jam when i took this picture. I put them in the fridge earlier in the night and i totally forgot to get them before taking this photo. Anyways, just try to imagine them there beside the lechon. Hehe. So, are you drooling now?

Wish I Have One

Whenever the season gets colder, there’s only one thing that I wish I have - a tankless water heater so I will not freeze during bath time. We used to have one but unfortunately it malfunctioned even before we could use it. It was kept in the store room for a while only to find out that it is no longer useful during the time that it was finally set up. Dad promised to purchase another one after that very disappointing discovery but he still haven’t fulfilled that promise up to now because time simply didn’t allow him. That’s how busy Dad is or maybe he totally forgot about it. Hmmm, let me refresh his memory later. Hehe.

Nikko's Christening Cake

We had Spongebob as theme for my nephew Nikko's Christening. So as expected, the cake should be Spongebob and here it is. It's a two-layered cake made by one of the best cake makers we have here in the city. The first layer has a mocca flavor and the second one is chocolate. It's really yummy but it took us three days to finally finished the whole cake. It's big you know and i actually had a hard time holding it when we took it from the bakeshop.

Anyways, there's Patrick too - Spongebob's friend. I really like how the cake looks. I wasn't there when my Sister chose it but i'm just glad that it turned out the way we wanted it. It's nice, isn't it?

Christmas Giveaways From Sis

My sister called earlier just to inform me that our share of promotional items that their bank is giving as giveaways is already ready for pick up. She used to bring it here at home before but due to time constraints, she can’t do it and chose to have us picked it up instead.

As we all know, promotional products are plenty during the holiday season. It’s what the corporate industry prefers to promote their products since it’s effective after all. And the best thing that I like about those items is, they are not only free but very functional too. Agree?

I Get To Indulge

With sweets, that is. And i can't get enough of it still actually. Lol. It's the holidays so as expected, parties, reunions, get-togethers, etc. happen from time to time. And when we talk of those events, food definitely comes to mind.

I've been eating a lot of sweets lately. It is only this time of year when i get to indulge in such so i don't see any problem with it. But Mom is such a worrier. Whenever she sees me munching on a cake or chocolate or anything sweet, her line goes, "watch your sugar". She's referring to my sugar level, of course. We have no history of Diabetes in the family but you know, Diabetes can be acquired, right? She knows how i'm soo into sweets that's why she keeps on reminding me. I'm being watchful too though and i know i haven't gone overboard yet. (",)

What's For Christmas Eve?

Tomorrow's Christmas Eve already so i'll bet you are already getting ready for the menu that you're going to prepare. Fortunately for me, Mom had our food catered so i don't have to cook and have myself get exhausted again for the food preparation and all. It's been years actually that we've been doing this. We do prefer it this way to avoid hassles, etc.

Anyways, Mom let me decide to choose the food for tomorrow. I ordered Chicken Lollipop, Diced Veggies (a party isn't complete without veggies for Mom), Beef Steak Tagalog and Lasagna (my fave! yey!). My Sister will bring Lechon (roasted pig) because according to her, Christmas won't be complete without it. Yummy! I can't wait for tomorrow!

Air Filter: A Must Have

As I’ve mentioned before, my son got flu and was absent from school for a week. Flu is rampant when the weather is cold, just like the weather we have now, and any one of us could have the flu since the germs can be acquired through air. My nephew had the flu before my son does so most probably, my son got the virus from him. The germs could have been circulating inside the household since my niece came next. Gladly it stopped there and no one had the flu after.

But you know what, we can actually prevent the germs from circulating in the entire household through Ecobox, an air filter which will protect us from germs – be it an odor-causing germs or illness-causing germs, etc. Amazing, isn’t it? This is such a nice discovery for me since I only found out about it while browsing the net. I’ve also learned that we can purchase this very helpful stuff only from EcoQuest International. So if you’re interested like me, just click the link and you’re on your way there.

Kakanin

Or better known as tidbits, dainties or sweetmeats are one of the many foods that never missed to be in our table whenever there's an occasion here at home. This is one of those desserts that Mom really likes. Among the kakanin, palitaw (rice cake) and maja blance are my favorites. I love the palitaw a lot especially when there's a lot of sugar in it. I missed kakanin since the last time we had one was on All Soul's Day which was when this picture was taken. Mom used to cook maja blanca and it's really delicious. I wonder when will Mom cook maja blanca again.

A Man of Excellence

Whenever I flip through magazines, one thing that instantly catches my eyes are those individuals who made it to the top - those people who were successful in their chosen profession because of their intelligence, talent and undeniably excellent skills. They are those people that a lot of us admires, and envies at the same time. But we do all know that they could never be there if not for hard work, perseverance and perhaps believing in one’s self. We can probably reach the top if we acquire the attitude they’ve got, I believe so.

One man who made a name for possessing those skills and or characteristics is Dan Neumeister. Having had several years of hospital experience in the executive level, his performance is unquestionable. He is also known for having creative mind and brilliant leadership in every aspect of an organization. He is such a man to look up to and definitely a good example to the youth as well. Kudos to you!

Tired...

It was so hot during Yogi's Christmas Party in school earlier which made me feel so tired when i got here at home. But though i was tired, i still managed to drop EC which i haven't done for a few days now. I've been really busy that's why. Did some opps too and took a nap after. I feel kind of better now after having my siesta though still a little tired. Anyways, will continue to drop EC now because i didn't finish it earlier. My fingers will do the work anyway and i don't need to get up and move my whole body. Hehe.

Affordable Textbooks

I studied in a public school when I was in grade school. Being in a public school meant no enough textbooks for the students. Each classroom was only given about five to six books to share. And we were not allowed to bring those books at home. Those books are merely for the classroom use only. So if we have assignments, we just have to go to our mini library. In a way, students in public schools were deprived of textbooks unlike those students in private schools. But anyhow, we still learned what there is needed to be learned.

Speaking of textbooks, perhaps you are searching for an online store where to get one, not to mention very affordable at that. You can actually acquire one at ValoreBooks.com. Selling cheap textbooks are what they offer. Not only that, you can also sell your old textbooks to them, which are not of your use anymore yet could still be useful to others. So if you want one, buy books here.

The Mascot Scared Yogi

Yogi had his first ever school Christmas Party this morning. Shakey's did the food preparation and organized the parlor games. The kids had fun though Yogi didn't join in any of those. He's always been shy to join in those stuff but he can't sit still and was roaming around and running with his classmates the whole time. And when Shakey's mascot came out from his hiding place, Yogi ran towards me. Never thought he's afraid of mascots. It was his first time to have seen one. He didn't cry though and was watching from the distance but he didn't return inside the room until the mascot was nowhere to be seen. I told him that how come he's afraid of the mascot when in fact it looks so cute and adorable, isn't it? Hehe.

Anyways, Yogi got a toy car as a gift. He opened his gift instantly and was all smiles upon seeing the toy car. He loves toy cars so much. I'm just glad his classmate thought of giving him a toy car above all else.

Mall Hopping

I went “mall hopping” with my friend yesterday. The malls are on sale so we grabbed the chance. First, we went to Gaisano mall to look for Yogi’s needed stuff for their Christmas Party on Thursday. A 20% discount was offered in almost all items so I was able to buy two shirts and a gift for his Kris-Kringle at a discounted price. I bought a nice top for myself too.

Next, we hopped to KCC mall. We had the dinner first because our stomachs are already rumbling. After eating, we headed straight to the boutiques situated on the second floor. I was checking the new arrivals in one boutique when she thought of going to the drug store beside it to check for vitamins, only to find out that what they have are merely beauty and wellness products which include diet products, beauty soaps, etc. We decided to just go downstairs and check the other drug store. We were still on our way there when we changed our minds and decided to just go home instead. It’s already 8:30 in the evening and the mall closes at 9 o’clock. So home sweet home we went.

Chocolate Stripes

My sis-in-law to be, Karen celebrated her 32nd Birthday on December 8th. As a treat, she brought us this Chocolate Stripes cake which we had for snack. Having a sweet tooth, i had three slices that day and was actually craving for more but i know it won't be fair for the others. Hehe. But guess what? Nobody dared to eat those three slices left until morning the next day. Hmmm, i know what you're thinking now. You got it right! I had them the next day. Haha. I do believe those were meant for me. Lol.

Happy Birthday, Sis! All the best for you. Mwah!

Best of Luck!

I have few friends whose body built belongs to what we call oversized. Some of them are already contented with the way they look but some of them are also desperate to lose weight. They have actually tried some weight-loss regimen but to no avail. Their figures are actually our topic whenever we have group sessions and all.

Recently, they have mentioned about this diet pill review that they found on the web. As I’ve heard, selecting a diet pill would be easier since diet pills were reviewed and rated according to its benefits, price and effectiveness. I’m hoping they have found the right diet pill for them and they would succeed in losing weight this time. Wish you all the luck guys!

Greenwich's Super Combo Meal

Composed of baked mac, tacos and a slice of pizza, it's what we had for snack yesterday. It has always been our choice whenever we're at Greenwich. Yogi super loves the tacos and munched almost all of it by himself including my friend Elsie's share of tacos. He loves the mustard too and was asking for more but i told him that's already it. I don't want him to indulge. The serving is more than enough for him, i believe so. You know kids, they love junk foods so much. I had the baked mac and we shared on the pizza. I was stuffed. Yogi dozed off after. Yes he did. Gladly we were sitting on a bench in the corner most portion of the resto so it wasn't that obvious. I let him sleep until about 15 minutes so he won't get grouchy when i wake him up, and gladly he wasn't. Hmmm, i wan't to have another batch of that meal again today. (",)

Perfect Gift For Dad This Christmas

As Christmas draws near, my sister and I are getting busier by the day. It has always been a get together for the whole family every Christmas Eve here at home and the two of us are in charge of the food and gifts. Aside from the exchanging of gifts, each family member will also be receiving a gift. For my Sis and me, we are going to give each other a gift so the element of surprise is still there.

Anyway, we already thought of the best gift to give Dad. We are giving him a gift that he truly deserves – an Audemars Piguet watch. Dad’s kind of choosy when it comes to watches but we do know his taste and we’re certain, he will like this one. We are still undecided on the gift for Mom and the rest of the family members but we are already contemplating on the choices we first made. We just have to finalize the whole thing.

I'm In-Charge!

Mom was out to the Pediatrician to have my nephew Nikko's scheduled vaccination. Nikko's nanny who happens to be our cook every lunch time went along with her so i am in charge to do the cooking for today's lunch. What i did was just a simple dish. I don't how would i call it. It's just one of those "instant" recipes that i do. When i say instant, it's the dish that you make with what's available in the fridge. I sauteed the ground pork, then added "Upo" (don't know how's it called in English), and then added some seasoning. That simple, and it tastes well for me. I don't know for them. LOL. Hope they'll like it. Well, they should. They don't have a choice, do they? Hehe.

Mom's Banana Cake

As i've mentioned in my other blog, my MIL brought us a bunch of bananas here at home few days ago. We couldn't eat them all at once so Mom decided to make a banana cake out of it since some of them are beginning to get overriped. The cake was delicious though the upper portion was quite burnt. Mom underestimated the heat of the turbo broiler so it turned out so hot which burnt the cake. But despite what happened, Mom's banana cake was still delicious and my nephews, nieces and Yogi loved it and couldn't even get enough of it. There were still a few bananas left so Mom might probably bake one tomorrow again if she's not busy. I am afraid to try 'cause i might not only burn the upper portion but the whole cake totally. Lol. I took some pictures but my bro haven't downloaded it yet. Will try to post some as soon as it's okay.

Flu Prevention

Cold season is here and when this time comes, certain illnesses also occur. One of which is Flu. A lot of people, adults and kids alike could be affected and my 5-year-old son, Yogi was among those who were not spared from the said illness. He is okay now though after a week of being sick. My niece came next. I wonder who'll be next in line. I just hope no one will. Anyways, here's how to prevent Flu that i got from a book. Read on...

1) Get a flu shot each autumn if you are over 65; if you have a chronic illness, such as asthma, heart disease, or diabetes; if you live in a nursing home; or if you are a health care worker.
2) Consider annual flu shots if you or your family members are likely to be exposed to the disease through work or by being around other children, or if you just want to reduce the chance that you and your family will catch the disease. The vaccine can be given to anyone over 6 months of age.
3) Keep up your resistance to infection by eating a healthy diet, getting plenty of rest, and exercising regularly.
4) Avoid exposure to the flu virus. Wash you hands often and keep your hands away from your nose, eyes, and mouth.
5) Stop smoking.

I So Love Popcorn!

My brother’s girlfriend was here at home earlier to give us a few packs of microwave ready popcorns. We always have our share of it whenever she receives a package from her parents in the U.S. She so loves popcorn that is why her parents never missed to send her some every month. And she never fails to share it with us. I so love popcorn myself and it is always my choice of snack whenever I watch movies in cinemas. After paying the ticket, my next stop is the portion where the popcorn machines were located to buy my favorite popcorn which I usually pair with a can of soda. Yummy!

A Happy Face for Yogi!

After a week of having flu and being absent from school, Yogi is now fine and was able to attend classes since Tuesday since Monday was a Holiday. Glad his flu is now gone and he is already wearing a happy face. It really worries me if he's sick like that because aside from being absent, he also does not have the appetite. He actually lose a little weight. It shows in his face and a lot of people have noticed it. He is taking vitamins though but it's not enough to give him the appetite. I've already tried almost all kinds of vitamins there is but it didn't work on him. Have you got something to recommend? I'd appreciate it. (",)

Christmas Giveaways!

Christmas is just around the corner and being the season of gift-giving, promotional items also abound this time of the year.

My sister works in a bank and she never missed to give us our share of those items. Last year, she gave us promotional bags, pens, umbrellas and mugs. I wonder what they have for giveaways this year. It is always something to look forward to because aside from the fact that they are free, they are very useful too. For sure, you’ve got your share of promotional items too.

An Apple a Day, Keeps the Doctor Away!

The weather is colder and the rain drops every now and then. I was at the mall yesterday and I wasn’t aware that it was raining until I got out of the building. A few raindrops fell on my head while I was waiting for a Pedicab to bring me home, and a little later after I arrived home, I knew I’m going to have colds then because I’m starting to sneeze and I already got a little headache. I took medicine right away and felt relief. But when I woke up this morning, I had a headache again. But since it’s still tolerable, so I opted not to take meds and ate apples instead. Mom bought a dozen of apples last night so it’s just in time. As they say, an apple a day, keeps the Doctor away. (“,)

Missing A Friend...

A text message from a friend whom I seldom see but oftenly missed perked me up the other day. I haven’t heard from her for a while because she’s been extremely busy with work – goes out of town almost every week and catches up with all the paper works filed in her desk every single day. If I remember it right, the last time that I’ve seen her was when she was shopping for a Samsonite luggage at the mall. We haven’t talked that much that time too because she needs to catch a flight to the big city. I really miss her because she’s one of my closest friends and my confidante. We can talk for hours of just about anything. Well, we may hang out very seldom now as compared before but we know for a fact that the friendship is still there and it will be for life, I believe so.

The Need for More Tools

If you happen to dropby here at home and head straight to the office, Dad’s tools will welcome you with open arms. Hehe. Dad has a bunch of tools. He is not into collecting though. Our family business calls for it. Being in a construction business, tools of different kinds are really essential. I already lost count of how many tools we have here actually, and mind you, he bought another set of air tools recently. I wonder if he’s going to buy more tools in the coming days because I heard him said earlier that he needs a few more since some of his tools are already old and doesn't function that well anymore. We’ll see.
