Gratitude

Despite the trials, difficulties, heartaches and pains, i still have a lot of things to be thankful for. It's just a matter of viewing things in perspective. Wow! I was overjoyed upon learning that my blog was approved from these two networks. I've just got the news early this morning. Such a great news to start the day. I am a full-time mom and I have my five-year-old son’s future to think of that is why I am always on the look out for anything that can give me an added income. Party's Over

My son's party was fun. Glad my close friends and relatives that i haven't seen for a while was able to make it. Times like this are our bonding time. Glad my cousin Prily made it too. Lunch Time!

Mom's already here so i have to go. It's time to feed my little tummy. I can smell the grilled Milkfish from here. Are you familiar with that? The fish was stuffed with spices like tomatoes and onions and then covered all over with foil and then grilled. It really smells good and tastes yummy too. Try it yourself. In the Mood

I'm really in the mood to right some stuff here. Just to kill the time i guess and forget about getting bored and all. It is already lunch time but i still don't feel like feeding my tummy for now. We're still waiting for mom anyway so let me just tinker the pc first and enjoy my time here while it lasts. The pc's going to be busy as soon as my father's Engineer will arrive. This is the only time i've got so i'll make the most of it. Besides, i'm not hungry yet anyway. I took a slice of Maja Blanca earlier that's why. It's yummy. I wonder who cooked it. It was just delivered here this morning. I think mom ordered it from a friend. I'll take a bite again later.

We Share the Same Sentiments

There's been a heavy downpour since this morning. I'm kind of feeling a little sensitive today and as i look and listen to the rain, i thought of the sky crying and sad like me. It's like the sky sympathizes with me. Perhaps he knows what i am into. I don't have problems whatsoever. I just felt like this all of a sudden. Maybe i'm just bored. Or it has something to do with that "thing" again. Sorry, that thing is just for me to know. Hehe. Oh well, i think this will just pass. I will be fine in a while. I have to cheer up because it's my son's birthday. Hmmm, i'm just missing his dad, i guess.

My Son is now Five

It's my son's birthday today. He is a year older and a year wiser. Time really flies so fast. It all seemed like yesterday when i gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. By June, i'll have my first ever student because he'll be in school by then. He's excited to go to school and so am i. How i wish his dad is here to join the fun and celebrate with us but that will only be a wish. But anyways, he is for sure happy where he is. Happy birthday son!

Tweety Bird

I used to collect tweety bird stuff and these are just some of them. I kept the smaller ones on the attic because of lack of space in the cabinet. My room was filled with these about ten years ago until i gave birth to my son. I don't want him to grow up with tweety bird around for one simple reason, i don't think it's appropriate. I also have tweety bird curtains and bed sheets and pillows to match. And i still use them 'til now. Isn't tweety adorable?

Weight Loss Program at Oprah

It's been a while that i have seen Oprah. I am a big fan of hers but i was preoccupied with work that i didn't have time to watch her show. Got the chance again two days ago. Their topic is all about weight loss and about Bob Greene's book. Women who were obese before and had tremendous weight loss were featured in the show. They were amazing. Awesome Creatures

Mom took this picture when she visited Manila Ocean Park earlier this month. Aren't the fishes awesome? I don't know what fishes are these but i really like their color and shape. We have an aquarium here at home and i really love watching the fishes though they don't have any resemblance with these fishes in the picture. They say doing so can take away stress. I think so too because as i watched them swim calmly, i felt calmness inside me too. Strange? Maybe.

Gloomy Me

The weather is gloomy today and so am I. I don't really know why. I'm just not in the mood since this morning. Perhaps it is because i didn't have enough sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night and had a hard time getting back to sleep. Perhaps somebody somewhere is thinking of me, huh? What do you think? Nah, i'm just trying to amuse myself. Hopefully my mood will change after my siesta this afternoon.

When It's Not Just a Mole

How can you tell if that mole on your arm is cancerous? For years, doctors have taught the ABCD rule: A mole may be melanoma if it is assymetrical; the borders are irregular (not smooth); the color varies; or the diameter is larger than that of a pencil eraser.

Now, the dorctors at New York University School of Medicine who invented the ABCD rule say we should add an E for evolving. They reviewed a number of studies to make sure the test still works. It does. But they also determined that some skin cancers change over time - in size, shape, color and symptoms such as bleeding or itching. In two studies, more than 70% of lesions evolved in people diagnosed with melanoma. Adding E will help get the message to patients, who often spot the cancer first.

Tom, Katie and Baby Suri

Tom Cruise is my all time favorite Hollywood actor. I love his movie Top Gun. If i'm not mistaken, i think i've watched it more or less 20 times. That's how i love the movie. I am always updated with regards to his lovelife. And when baby Suri was introduced into the world, with this picture as her first ever appearance in the limelight, i admired Tom even more. Suri resembles her dad a lot and she is just so adorable. I like Katie too. I am a fan of Dawson's Creek before. Never missed an episode of that one. I love this picture of them. Tom and Katie does look good together, and with cutie Suri, they sure look like a one big happy family.

My Dear Mentor

I regularly chat with my mentor Mabelle. Recently we talked about our earnings but sorry, can't tell you how much but all i can say is, we've been blessed most especially her. Back to Work

I started working again on Monday. I was excited to set my fingers on the keyboards again after a while and listen to those sometimes difficult to comprehend practitioners. Aside from the mind-boggling medical terms, those practitioners are really hard to understand at times because of their accent and inaudible audio. But there are some too that i would love to hear over and over again. But then again, even if they do have that lovable audio, still the work is exhausting. Not to mention the body aches you get from sitting 4-5 hours straight. We actually don't realize it at times that we've been sitting for that long until we already feel those muscles pains and all. We even forget to drink water from time to time. We actually lost track of time whenever we're already there because our mind is already set on what we're doing. It feels good though that we've learned this stuff though it is really exhausting. But i don't think there is any job that is not exhausting at all. As they say, it's hard to earn a living.

We all know that practicing safety at home should be a priority especially if we have children. I was reading a book earlier and i've read this. Thought of sharing this with you. Read on.

Taking safety precautions is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself and your family from accidents and injuries. Let common sense and these partial lists be your guides.

1) Post emergency telephone numbers near telephones.

2) Have an emergency plan in case of accidents, fire, or injury. Practice the plan with your family.

3) Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home, and check them twice a year to make sure they work.

4) Keep a working fire extinguisher in your home. Make sure everyone in the house (including the babysitter) knows how to use it.

5) Keep all medications, cleaning and automotive supplies, and other hazardous products securely stored and out of the reach of children.

6) Turn off appliances after use. Unplug small appliances and put them away after they have cooled.

7) Prevent falls by securing rugs that slip, keeping stairs and hallways clear of cutter, and turning on lights.

8) Practice safer sex.

9) Store firearms unloaded and securely, our of the reach of children. Store ammunition separately.

Weather -- It's Everywhere!

Lightheadedness

I was sick for three days. Suffered from lightheadedness and stomach pain. I spent most of my time in bed because getting up makes me dizzy. I read a medical book regarding lightheadedness because i was afraid there is some underlying cause behind this and here is what i've read.

Lightheadedness is common when you have flu, a cold, or allergies. Vomiting, diarrhea, and fever can cause dehydration and lightheadedness. Other common causes of lightheadedness include side effects of medication, hyperventilation, stress, anxiety, drinking alcohol, or using illegal drugs. A more serious cause of lightheadedness is bleeding. If a person is bleeding internally, lightheadedness and fatigue may be the first noticeable symptoms of blood loss.

I didn't have all of those things mentioned above except for internal bleeding which i am not sure of. I was having this "girl thing" since friday, the time when my lightheadedness started. I just hope that is not the cause. Perhaps i am anemic. I have to seek medical advice soon.

The Seven Commandments of Parenting

As a parent, i read books on parenting from time to time. All the while i thought it's good to be your kids' buddy but just learned that it also has its disadvantages. Here's one of those that i've read and i want to share with you guys.

Here's what parents should do to raise confident, responsible children:

1) Be a parent, not a pal. Stop thinking you're supposed to be your child's friend. Being a parent means setting limits and making rules.

2) Discipline early. Most experts warn not to give in to the kid who says, "I'll pick up my toys if you take me to get ice cream." That puts the child in control, rather than the parent.

3) Spend time with your kids. Teens appreciate quality time but it can't replace availability.

4) Control the electronics. Children should not watch more than two hours of TV a day - and only shows monitored by parents.

5) Know what your child is up to.

6) Don't get carried away with "self-esteem". If you protect them too much, they'll never develop the ability to overcome problems.

7) Stay married. All this advice given by the experts - spending time with your kids, supervising television, monitoring their whereabouts - becomes much easier when there are two adults in the household.

Pizza -- It's a Food Group!

I love pizza especially when it is paired with iced tea. Yummy! I was actually craving for a bite while answering this survey. It's been a while since i've eaten one. Hmmm...might as well buy one tomorrow. Can't wait.

When to Say No to Your Kids

I've always been very vocal with my son when it comes to his requests. I'm not the type who give everything that he wanted. But there are times that he won't stop until you grant his request. And just to stop him from whining, I have no choice but to give in. So far, he only asks for coins to buy some candies in the nearby store. Well, you know kids. They can't last a day without munching on candies. But when it comes to toys, more often than not, I tell him that he'll get one if I already have the money and he would listen. I don't want him to grow up spoiled.

I was with my colleagues again the other day for our scheduled meeting with the VIPs. We still didn't meet halfway so there will still be series of meetings and discussions. Anyway, that's another story.

We went to the mall after that to have our lunch. We chose between Greenwich and KFC but eventually opted for the latter. I'm not a chicken addict but my friend is. We chose a value meal because of one simple reason, it is affordable. It was my first time to try that meal and i can't help but ask for more. It is really delicious (KFC didn't pay me for this, okay?). The chicken is very tender to the bite and the gravvy with mushroom is super yummy. Could have ordered another one but i'm already full. That's already gluttony if ever i'll indulge. I'll try that again sometime.
