I'm Craving for Lasagna

I love pasta. I can have it in lieu of rice. I'm actually craving for lasagna at the moment. I really want to learn how to make one. Was trying to search for recipes on the web. I've seen one but it looks complicated for me. I'll look for another one. I'd better learn so i can just bake whenever i feel the urge to take a bite. Whatchathink? (",)

The Ideal Meal

Dutch researchers have identified a meal that can help prevent disease - and it even tastes good. In a review of 44 studies, they found that men and women who ate six key foods daily cut their risk of heart disease by 76%. If they stuck with it, men could increase their life expectancy by six-and-a-half years, and women by about five, says researcher Oscar Franco, an epidemiologist at Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam. The ideal portions for the heart-healthy foods:

* 1/2 teaspoon freash garlic
* 2 cups fruits and vegetables (especially leafy greens and citrus fruits)
* 100 grams dark chocolate
* a glass of wine (red is rich in antioxidants)
* a handful of almonds (64 grams)
* 112 grams salmon, herring or another fish containing omega-3 fatty acids (2-4 times a week).

The Perfect Pasta

"Al dente" is used to describe pasta that is cooked to perfection. Literally translated, it means "to the tooth". In other words, it should be firm to the bite. When pasta is overcooked, it is limp and not appetizing. But now, cooking pasta is easier than ever.

Try these helpful hints:
* Always use the right amount of water when boiling pasta; just follow the directions on the package. This will help dilute the starch released during cooking and therefore prevent sticking.
* When using a small pot to cook spaghetti, don't cut the noodles to fit them into the pan. Hold spaghetti in a bunch and put one end into the water. As the ends of the pasta soften, bend the pieces and feed the rest in gradually or coil them around using a wooden spoon or fork until they are submerged.
* Drain pasta quickly and use immediately. Do not rinse pasta in cold water unless it will be served cold. The cool splash removes surface starch, which helps the sauce hold on or cling to the pasta.

Tag from Lisa

1. You do not have to be tagged to play along. This game is simple and so are the rules.Copy from ♥Start Copy Here♥ through ♥End Copy Here♥

2. Add your site(s) to the list. Just be sure to post at each site you add.

3. Tag or don’t tag, your choice, however, the more tags you create the bigger the list will grow.

4. Let me know your blog’s name and url by leaving me a comment HERE. I will add you to the master list. (If you would like the scroll box code, leave me your email address and I will email it to you.)

5. Come back and copy the master list back to your site, often. This process will allow late-comers to get as much link benefit as the first ones in.
Note: To the owner of this tag, pardon me if I modified this. I just want my post to appear the way I want it to. Hope this is key for you. Anyway, I put my simple scrolling code here. Though I'd like to put the automatic scroll but manual scroll is most appropriate for this list. And I put the heart ASCII Code instead of the dash. I love ASCII Codes :D.

If you want to use this code, feel free to use it. Just click the link: mabellescode

What Parts of a Lobster are Edible?

There are only two parts of the lobster you can't eat: the intestinal tract and the sac behind its eyes.
The intestinal tract runs through the tail of the lobster and is usually black. (Just pull it out with the tip of your knife.) The sac behind the eyes contains not only the lobster's brains but also its stomach and other internal organs, and it just doesn't agree with the human digestive system.
All the rest of the creature is edible and delicious. Chefs even use the hard outer shell to make a bisque, or broth. You might have noticed in the lobster's abdomen a light-greenish, creamy substance. This is the liver, also known as the tomalley. It is delicious eaten as is or it can be used to flavor spreads, butters, sauces or dips.
If you buy a female lobster, you might find a dense, orange-colored substance in the abdomen. This is the roe, the lobster's unfertilised eggs, and is also known as the coral. Some people buy female lobsters only in order to get this roe, which can be used as a colorful garnish for hors d'oeuvres and salads.

Am I a Good Cook?

You Are a Learning Cook

You've got the makings of an excellent cook, and the desire to be one.
But right now, you're just lacking the experience. You couldn't be a top chef yet, but you could be an apprentice.
Wow! Great! Not bad, huh?

Mango Float

This is probably the easiest dessert to prepare. I think most of you knows how to make this. No cooking or baking needed. You just need to have some crackers, cream and of course, mangoes and presto! You've already had your mango float.
A friend of mine used fruit cocktail instead of mango. It was delicious too. Try it yourself.

Lunch Time

It's lunch time but i'm still sitting here, browsing the net, keeping in touch with friends and so on and so forth. My tummy's actually grumbling now but i'm still lazy to stand up. I'm glued here since 10 o'clock. Gosh! Just realized that i've been sitting here for almost 3 hours now. My mom's already yakking at me that i would probably get an ulceritis (is that the right term?) because of this. Don't worry mom, i can handle this...for now. Hehe. Have to go. Time to fill my empty tummy. Bon appetit for me!

Pacman's Birthday Cake

This was Manny Pacquiao’s Cake when he celebrated his birthday last year. The cake was created by Mix ‘n Magic, considered to be one of the best cake makers here in General Santos City a.k.a GenSan. This picture was taken by a family friend, Apple who started photography as a hobby and now owns the photography studio Ritratto, also here in Gensan. Isn’t it awesome?

Reminiscing Bora

It was this time of year, 7 years ago when I, together with my Sis, Bro, Aunt and Bro-in-law went to Boracay. Time runs too fast, huh? Seemed like it was just yesterday. But then again, the memory remains. Our 2 nights and 3 days stay was fun-filled and truly memorable. The island is truly a paradise with its white sand beach which was then filled with different kinds of people from different walks of life.

We enjoyed the beach on our second day because we were busy touring the other parts of the island on the first. I can still remember how i screamed at the top of my lungs when i rode the Jet Ski. My bro was the one who drove and it was fast. Though i was wearing a life jacket, i was still afraid that i might fall ‘coz i don’t know how to swim. (Gosh!) But then again, it was fun! I eventually gained my composure and enjoyed the ride of my life.
Hope i’ll be able to visit Boracay again. Perhaps, soon…
