Canker Sores

I have one of this in my tongue and i've been suffering from such for five days now and i just hate it. I wasn't able to enjoy the food during my Sister's birthday on the 18th because of this. Well, up to now actually. I only eat minimal amount of food and even drink minimal amount of water because it's really painful. And mind you, it's getting painful by the day. How i wish i can replace my tongue with another tongue. Lol. Anyways, i tried to read for some causes of canker sores and here's what i found.

Canker sores are painful, open sores that form on the inside of the mouth. Possible causes of canker sores include injury to the inside of the mouth, infection, certain foods, stress, genetic tendency to get canker sores, and female hormones. The sores usually heal in 7 to 10 days.

Prevention:
1) Avoid injuring the inside of you mouth. Chew food slowly and carefully. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush, and brush your teeth thoroughly but gently.
2) Avoid foods that seem to cause sores.

Home Treatment:
1) Avoid coffee, spicy and salty foods, and citrus fruits when you have open sores in your mouth.
2) Apply a nonprescription canker sore medication to protect the sore, ease pain, and speed healing.
3) Rinse your mouth with a mixture of 15 ml (1 tbsp) or hydrogen peroxide in 240 ml (8 oz) of water.
4) Applying a thin paste of baking soda and water to the sore may relieve pain.

Also warm water and salt helps. There is a product by Orajel that is a mouth rinse for canker sores. It really does help a little with the pain and I think they heal faster. Also, if I feel one coming on and use it, it doesn't seem to get as bad.
